Rose Water has been used for thousands of years, starting in the Middle East, where they blended roses and water for beauty, food and drinks.

People—including the ultimate beauty chick Cleopatra—have been distilling petals for centuries to reap the rewards of rose water. It’s not only ultra feminine, but it’s also easy to make and accessible. Most importantly, it’s super good for you!

Roses have long been revered for their anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antioxidant properties, while water has been proven over and over again to improve metabolism and flush toxins from the body.

Nutritionally, rose water contains vitamins A, B, C, and E, as well as flavonoids and other antioxidants.

And though there are few studies demonstrating definitive proof of rose water's benefits as a beauty beverage, people throughout history have depended on it to help with stress, digestion, mood, and inflammation, as well as gorgeous skin!

This divinely refreshing and heart opening elixir is what most of us wish for on a hot day and makes a perfect happy delight for the occasion of Mother's Day!

MOTHER'S DAY ROSE MOCKTAIL

Makes 1 serving:

- 40 ml Seedlip Grove 42
- 80 ml Rose Water*
- Tonic Water
- 15 ml of lemon juice
- Ice cubes

In a cup add one rose ice cube, pour the Seelip Grove 42 over it for the spirit, then add the Rose Water and finish off with the tonic water until the glass is topped up.

Optional Pro-Tip:

  • Make rose water and add into large ice cube tray for huge delight!

* Directions to make Rose Water: The secret to rosewater is using the right temperature of water. Some recipes call for simmering roses in hot water, then straining, which will make you BITTER rose water. So be sure to use about 75-80C to brew roses, which is about 80% to reach boiling point. Start with ¼ cup Rose Petals, and fill up to 1 cup in total volume of hot water. Add about 2 Tbsp of Maple Syrup, mix, and allow it to steep until the sweetened rose water is room temperature. Here feel free to adjust sweetener to your liking. Strain the petals out and keep your tea in the fridge. When ready to serve, add ice, pour in the chilled rose water (use rose cubes if you’re really wanting to take it to the next level!) and enjoy!
